“举例子”：列举事实或举出实例来说明中心思想， 是简单易行、具有说服力的写作方法。因果型段落只是将叙述重点集中在原因或结构之上，文章所采用的扩展模式还是列举，列举原因或结构。举例的最明显标志是for example, for instance, such as, take...for an example的使用。同学们不要总是认为要举大例子，比如伟人事迹之类的，要以所举的例子尽可能地支持本段观点为原则。最好举生活中大家都熟悉的例子，若没有，可以编例子。编例子的原则是把相对于虚的概念落成实的事例，即在中心思想的基础上，加上具体的事件和人物。如下面的举例：
Communicating with other people by telephone is very convenient, especially when you have something urgent. For example, if one of your family members is seriously ill at right, and you do not know how to deal with it and where to find a doctor, what can you do? A telephone is the answer. Dial 120 and you will get services from the hospital very soon。
